Frequently Asked Questions

Can smaller churches operate this program?

Yes, absolutely!  Churches of all sizes have run this ministry, including Life Worth Living in Delaware (80 members) where Dr. Nix pastored for 10 years and where Rev. John "Jay" Finney pastors now.  But smaller churches do have some key challenges (like enough men) which we help you solve.

How long does it take to get started?

If you follow our 9-step Roadmap and the training and coaching we give, you can launch the core program of weekly sessions in 6 months.  But if you don't have men at the ready to lead it, 10-12 months is more likely as we help you recruit and train leaders and Mentor-Coaches, and make other preparations.

How many men do I need for this program?

You'll need at least two men to lead the weekly group sessions (for many reasons we'll explain).  The number of men you'll need to be Mentor-Coaches depends on the number of boys you have.  Project Manhood uses a group mentoring model which means less men are needed and those men tend to stay involved for years.

What ages are the boys?

There are usually two age groups in Project Manhood. 8-12 and 13-17.  They should be in separate groups for the most part, because there are dramatic differences in their maturity and the topics they need to cover.  We suggest you start with the younger boys and then add a second group of older boys.
